Choosing Wisely Canada National Meeting and Invited Co-Design Event

  • Dates: 27 Feb – 28 Feb, 2017
  • Location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Address: Westin Calgary Hotel

CFHI partnered with Choosing Wisely Canada (CWC) to co-sponsor a co-design workshop, Choosing Wisely Together, which was held on February 28, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta. Forty-six participants attended this event, including patients/family/caregivers; researchers; clinicians; and representatives from patient, public and professional organizations from seven provinces and territories.

The goals of the workshop were to reflect on the CWC “More is Not Always Better” campaign one year following its launch and to explore opportunities and consider strategies to improve and further engage patients and the public in Choosing Wisely Canada. Information gathered at the workshop will be considered by CWC as they continue to implement, review and revise elements of the campaign. CWC is committed to taking the insights of the day, to put ideas into action as part of the campaign, and to continue the conversation with patients and other stakeholders.

CFHI was able to lend its considerable expertise in co-design and engagement to this partnership (as CWC was new to this area of patient and family engagement). This final report provides details of the proceedings of the day and priorities that emerged from discussions with stakeholders, as well as lessons learned from hosting this workshop.
