Building Capacity.
Enhancing Leadership.
Delivering Improvement.

What is EXTRA?

CFHI’s EXTRA: Executive Training Program is a 14-month fully bilingual improvement fellowship – the only one of its kind in Canada.

How EXTRA Works

A team representing one or more organizations tackling a common improvement challenge participates in the EXTRA program. Teams consist of three or four current and emerging leaders.

Team members gain skills and knowledge and work collaboratively to design, implement and evaluate an evidence-informed improvement project (IP) addressing a pressing clinical, organizational, regional or provincial/territorial priority or challenge.

Renowned Canadian and international faculty deliver the EXTRA curriculum, with support from CFHI coaches and staff. Team members participate in three in-person residency sessions, a series of webinars and self-directed e-learning modules.

The call for applications is now closed. CFHI will communicate directly with all applicants. Selected teams will be publicly announced in the coming weeks.

Learning Modules and Activities

EXTRA is structured around four core interactive learning modules:

  • Module 1: Building Organizational and Team Readiness, and Designing the IP
  • Module 2: Enhancing Leadership Competencies and Refining the IP
  • Module 3: Accelerating Progress and Implementing the IP
  • Module 4: Sustaining and Scaling-Up the IP and Sharing Key Learnings

The modules are designed to support organizations and teams along their improvement journey. They provide a balance of theory, tools and practical techniques.
