This invitation-only interactive event will provide approximately 25 guests with an exclusive briefing by Don Husereau, Director of Health Technology Assessment Development at the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health. Dr. Husereau will discuss his work on the economic value of innovation and the use of health technology assessment to gauge the value of new technology. Paul Grootendorst of the University of Toronto and Aidan Hollis of the University of Calgary will present a paper commissioned by CHSRF on policy options for managing drug spending, including recommendations related to pricing, procurement and ways to stimulate innovation. This will be the first public presentation of the paper.

The presentations will be followed by a reflective panel to bring different perspectives (industry, clinical practice and government) and stimulate discussion.

This event is the first in a series of presentations on issues in healthcare financing, innovation and transformation CHSRF is organizing for interested stakeholders. Highlights will be shared by video and other means with a broader audience at a webinar following each event.
