Type of event: CHSRF hosted; invitation only

CHSRF is working to encourage frank dialogue among policy-makers, healthcare executives, researchers and the public about how the aging population may impact Canadian healthcare systems.

In fall 2010, 203 of these people convened at roundtables across the country to exchange ideas about different approaches for addressing health system challenges related to Canada’s aging population. Drawing from these fall 2010 roundtables, CHSRF is hosting a public engagement event in Vancouver – Better with Age: Your Healthcare Experience – on February 21 to assess how key themes from the Better with Age series resonate with citizens. The facilitated dialogue will include approximately 20 invited citizens from the Vancouver area who represent a variety of perspectives (caregivers, experience with long term care, hospital care, homecare, and end of life care), and who have a primary perspective as a citizen rather than a healthcare professional or administrator.

This event aims to bring clarity to the question of what citizens want in their healthcare as they age. Findings will help inform health systems decision-makers to plan for the aging population.
