Canada’s Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is hosting the Canadian Recruit and Retain Conference, aimed at sharing international strategies for attracting healthcare professionals to underserved areas.

Recruit_retain_1_0114editedThe Conference is part of the European Union-funded project known as Recruit and Retain of which NOSM is the only non-European partner. The other Recruit and Retain participating countries, which will be represented at the Thunder Bay conference, are Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Recruiting and retaining healthcare professionals for rural and remote communities is an ongoing challenge in many parts of the world. The conference delegates will discuss best practices for ensuring that people living in remote communities benefit from high-quality healthcare.

CFHI Participation

Representatives from CFHI’s Northern, Rural or Remote Pan-Provincial Collaboration will share how the Collaboration is uniting regions across five provinces to address common healthcare challenges.

CFHI is also providing in-kind support for the conference, where many of the European project partners in attendance are from European agencies equivalent to Canadian regional health authority partners which make up the Collaboration.
