CHSRF—now called the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, or CFHI

Dear Colleagues and Partners,

What a difference a new name makes!

Earlier this year, we made the bold decision to change our name to one that more accurately reflects our work and our mission.  Our new identity, the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI) speaks to the importance we place on our role as a catalyst in accelerating healthcare improvement by collaborating with you - our healthcare partners and decision makers - across the country.

Along with our new name and logo, we took the opportunity to repurpose a number of our communications tools to further support your needs, and I’m delighted to introduce you to our new website, launched today.

Please click on the link above to take a tour. We welcome your feedback. The site is an important touch point for you – and we want to ensure we provide you with the information and tools you need.

Our sharpened focus and renewed commitment to helping you maximize value for money in healthcare spending, provide more coordinated approaches to healthcare needs and improving patient and family centred experiences and outcomes will be at the forefront of every decision we make.   Here are just some ways we will be making a difference in the months ahead:

South of 60 –Spearheading health innovation in Canada’s Northern regions

The first step toward creating collaboration for shared learning in health system improvement among Northern, rural and remote health authorities will take place November 19 and 20 in Calgary.  CFHI, in partnership with Northern Health in British Columbia and the University of Northern British Columbia, the roundtable brings together an initial core group of similar health service delivery organizations and researchers. Partnering for Health – The Atlantic Collaboration

The Atlantic Provinces, like all regions of Canada, face persistent challenges creating integrated, cost-effective, patient-centred care. In partnership all 17 health authorities in Atlantic Canada with eight regional health organizations, CFHI will debut the Atlantic Healthcare Collaboration  November 26 and 27 at a workshop in Halifax. The first initiative of its kind to engage such a pan provincial group, the effort will initially involve 8 eight of the RHAs Regional Health Authorities, tackling 11 improvement projects.

Working Together from Coast to Coast - CEO forum

With a focus on achieving efficiencies, improving disease management, and introducing new technologies, CFHI looks forward to hosting its 7th annual CEO forum February 6, 2013 in Montreal. The outcomes and best practices shared at this invitation–only event will serve to accelerate the health change we need.

Inspiring Healthcare Innovation

The best ideas, and those with the greatest impact, are often sparked from a simple suggestion.  Do you have thoughts on how we can increase our impact in our work together? Please share your ideas at We look forward to hearing from you!

All my best,

Maureen O'Neil, O.C., President of the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement
