April 2014
This resource contains a variety of tools useful at all stages of a patient and family engagement. The toolkit is organized chronologically to guide the user through each step of the engagement process, from initiating an idea through to evaluating the success of the initiative.
The toolkit was prepared by the Alberta Health Services Engagement and Patient Experience Department in April 2014. Tools available include:
- discussion questions for staff involved in the planning of the project
- checklists for advisor selection
- suggestions for where to find advisors and how to recruit a diverse group
- information packets for potential advisors
- interview questions for advisor recruitment interviews
- tips and suggestions for staff liaisons
- a survey to assess the effectiveness of collaboration in meetings with the patient and family advisory council
- guidelines for setting up an evaluation strategy and sample evaluation questions.
