COVID-19 Vaccine Preparedness Resources for Long-term Care and Retirement Homes

January 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the long-term care (LTC) and retirement home sector in Canada hard, with devastating effects in some homes. Eight in 10 COVID-19-related deaths in Canada are in LTC, double the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average.1

This is a centralized collection of existing information and resources that can help long-term care (LTC) and retirement homes plan and implement COVID-19 vaccine rollout for their residents, staff and essential care partners. The repository is a collection of resources from a variety of sources, including the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), the Government of Canada, Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP) and other immunization experts.

This is not an exhaustive repository and is intended to complement existing provincial, territorial and jurisdictional vaccine rollout plans and resources. To find specific information about the vaccine and vaccine rollout in your province or territory, consult your public health unit or health authority’s website.
